i’m the voice behind tiia. 

‘this is it actually’ is a storytelling podcast that draws on personal experiences to help others share theirs.

i fell in love with storytelling when i was just a wee bee. i would sit on the steps of my dad’s general store, listening to the adult conversation, & it was there where i learned that everybody has a story.

when i was in high school, my dream was to be on the radio – talking to people for a living! what could be sweeter?

i took my love & talent of storytelling in a slightly different direction & i’ve been writing & interviewing as part of my job in TV production for over 20 years.

i love talking to all types of humans – i’m a magnet for ordinary people living fascinating lives. it’s one of the side effects of growing up in a small town. there’s something so special about it. the people, the charm, the feeling of home, that never goes away. 

it’s a huge part of who i am today.

a lover of words.

this will come as no surprise… i love words. especially the good ones. 

i love telling stories & can spin a yarn with the best of them. 

i love nostalgia & feel-good news.

i like to make people feel comfortable. i can find your story even if you think you don’t have one.

in my life, i’ve heard hilarious, heartwarming, heartbreaking, sad & beautiful stories. i like to think that we get to learn from the people who have made a lasting impression on us and then in a dreamy world, we adopt those good qualities and pay them forward.

a titch more about me:

loves = my kids, my dog, my record player, the beach, tattoos, donuts, family, friends, music, movies, bookstores, flea markets, new cities, yummy tea, big mugs, cookie dough in a waffle cone & writing in small letters (‘cuz hello… they’re way cuter). 

not so loves = crummy people, the smell of burnt toast, spitting (like the horking kind that happens on the sidewalk – ew), selfish sams who don’t wave when you let their car in & fast moving bugs. 

ridiculous + true.

it’s ridiculous & true – i was the voice of mtv’s canadian cribs & i always return my grocery cart to its proper spot.
